Proper preparation before painting begins...
Many painting contractors in Minnesota simply do not understand how to patch, prime and roll walls to create a uniform paint sheen. After filling nicks and nail holes with spackle, some painters just paint over the patched area without priming it first. This results in "blotchy" or inconsistent sheen.
As a customer you may not see the defects right away. If you choose another contractor or decide to do it yourself, be sure the painter primes the wall patch's and let them dry before painting.
Satin, eggshell and semi gloss sheens are particularly vulnerable to showing defects from patching, nail holes and other defects.
Hire a mn paint contractor that can evaluate your environment to recommend the proper sheen to use. Some considerations are: traffic, moisture, surface quality, sunlight exposure, children, animals, etc.
